Fear Not: A Morning Reflection

I’ve been aware for quite some time that fear is my predominant heart attitude. Fear of the unknown. Fear of the future. Fear of failure. It typically looks like racing thoughts, a tensing of the body, or just complete inaction. Fear has dominated most of my life since early childhood.

In the last year, I’ve really had to bring my fear to the Lord. There truly was no other option. I could either continue to hide my fear deep down and mask it with a false strength, or I could truly bring it before the Lord and others and trust in the grace of God.

A good friend of mine said it so well before, “You will be tempted with fear your entire life, but it doesn’t mean you need to be afraid forever”. As I sit at a coffee shop and start my day with another devotional from New Morning Mercies, I’m thankful for the comforting and transforming word of God.

“Thus says the LORD who made you, who formed you from the womb and will help you: Fear not…” (Isaiah 44:2)

Reflection:

Remember the grace and sovereignty of God. There is no need to give way to fear. My Lord God goes before me. Jesus never leaves or forsakes me. He is with me always to the end of the age. Every single situation of my life is under the perfect control of God. My job, my finances, my future, my mental health. No matter how big the circumstances appear, my God is bigger. God sees and knows my frame. He knows what causes me to give way to fear, yet He still supplies grace.
